7 Tips on What To Wear For Engagement Photos

You just got engaged, and now what? Here comes the fun part. It's time to start planning your engagement session to let your friends and family know of your exciting news! We often hear the question about the wardrobe that we decided to make this seven-tip guide on what to wear for engagement photos.Like everything else in life, the more effort you put into your engagement shoot, the better your photos will come out. Here is our piece of advice for wardrobe

1. PLAN AHEAD OF TIME

Here at Art by Light Photography, we strive to make home decor art pieces from every one of our engagement shoots. Because of this reason, we ask every client to think about where there is space in their home that they would love to display these photos for them to appreciate and remember. For example, if you have a blue wall, you can wear a beautiful blue dress to harmonize with it, or your outfit can be an opposite color to make yourself stand out. It's best to start looking at these details a month before the actual session, so you feel confident about your outfit choices.

2. WEAR FITTED CLOTHES

This advice goes mostly towards the gentlemen, because let's face it guys leave the outfit picking for last minute. There is nothing less appealing about oversize clothing as it makes the body looks bigger than it is.

3. WEAR SOLID COLORS

Stripes and patterns draw attention away from your face; for this reason, we recommend sticking to solid colors. Monochromatic colors are the easiest way to coordinate with your partner since you can stay in the same hue and have slightly different tones to play off of one another. If you want to bring energy to your photograph, complementary colors also look great and can be fun to mix and match with.

4. ACCESSORIES AND JEWELRY

I won't lie. I'm a big fan of hats and other accessories, but it is better to keep it simple for your engagement session. Hats and glasses become a disguise when added, and we want to recognize you. The same goes for jewelry unless the pieces are small enough not to steal the attention away from your beautiful smiles.

5. FOOTWEAR

Ensure your footwear matches the location; for example, sandals or bare feet are perfect for casual beach photos. For a more urban place, some stylized boots or heels would be incredible. We recommend staying away from white socks and white running shoes, as this might create a focal point that takes attention away from you.

6. PROPS FOR AN EXTRA POP

We love Props! They help make the session more fun, but it is also a great way to showcase your personality and what makes you unique as a couple. For example, if you two bonded over music, then bring an instrument or if you love playing sports, bring the equipment for a quick game reenactment.

7. SHOW YOUR PERSONALITY

Have you heard the expression, "Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak" by Rachel Zoe? Depending on the location you choose, we will suggest some wardrobe styles, but we still want to capture your unique personalities through the fashion statements in your engagement session.
